Data managers need to be able to effectively manage the data under their custodianship.

A Data Management Plan is a useful tool for day to day and longer term data management. The Plan needs to specify how each of the elements of data management shall be addressed for each dataset managed. A Data Management Plan does not have a set length. For the custodian, the plan should be as detailed as is appropriate for the size and complexity of the dataset, and the needs of the users.

The two documents provided here provide a plan and guidelines for managing datasets under the auspices of the NRIMS Steering Group and give some detail on the content of the plan and the process of data management.
