Data managers need to be able
to effectively manage the data under their custodianship.
A Data Management Plan is a useful tool for day to day and longer term data
management. The Plan needs to specify how each of the elements of data management shall
be addressed for each dataset managed. A Data Management Plan does not have a set length.
For the custodian, the plan should be as detailed as is appropriate for the size and
complexity of the dataset, and the needs of the users.
The two documents provided
here provide a plan and guidelines for managing datasets under the auspices of the NRIMS
Steering Group and give some detail on the content of the plan and the process of data
management.
